| Hi - I was wondering, I am planning a trip to come into Germany via Venice, Italy by car. The original plan was to rent a car and drive the romantic road, eventually making our way to Munich for the opening fesitivities on Sept. 20th Oktoberfest 2008. Is there a route that would make sense by automobile? From Venice, through some cities on the romantic road, and then into Munich? Any help would be great! (Also, wondering if I need a reservation in a tent for just 2 of us travelers)? Thank you!!! - Ms. Robin |

| Venice - Undine - Salzburg - Munich For a more scenic route it would be Venice - Belluno - Cortina d'Ampezzo - Toblach/Dobbaico - Bruneck/Brunico - Brixen/Bressasibe - Brenner Pass - Innsbruck - Garmisch Partenkirchen- Munich. To really enjoy the trip, I would suggest to stay overnight in Cortina. |

| This sounds like an amazing drive! Google says it's about a five-hour trip. They suggest going west to Verona and then travel north through Innsbruck through Austria and up to Munich. Be warned that parking is quite limited once you get to Munich, so you'll want to take public transportation once you get there. |

| The Romantic Road is one of the most impossibly romantic drives, just ever, and with all the castles and gorgeous countryside beauties, I don't wonder why it's called the Romantic Road. The original post, here, states that they were going in 2008, but it's never too late to add a little more so anyone else searching for information for their own trips in the future can gather interesting tidbits to help with planning a trip on the Romantic Road with a destination for Oktoberfest in Germany. Knowing the main cities along the journey will help to get an idea of where the map will take you. The Romantic Road website will give you a good idea of which cities you might want to include on your own journey. If it's possible to have a gps, go with that, because it's always best to have a little prep, and keep a few maps with you for back ups, in case the gps isn't doing the job.
