| To all lovely forum members. I need some help and information with regards to frankfurt main airport. I am travelling from london city airport to terminal 2, at frankfurt. Having read nothing but the horror stories about this place I am little concerned about my experience there. I will be landing at TERMINAL 2, and departing from TERMINAL 2, I wish to know what to expect once I land there? Is terminal 2 larger then terminal 1? is it easier to navigate than terminal 1? how long does it take to get the bags, and be out after landing? And are there any information or help desks located inside the terminal 2 ,to seek help? What is the timeline like to get to the gate after check in? Are the gates nicely laid out? Are there many gates? any help with information once you have checked in?and how easy it is to get around many levels. Does anybody know usually what level does BRITISH AIRWAYS fly out of ? Any help what so ever in giving me some idea of what to expect upon landing, and departing from terminal would be most appreciated. Thanks a lot in advance to you all. |

| Hi there, Here are the answers to your questions: * I wish to know what to expect once I land there? For what I have found out, Frankfurt airport is a nightmare and very chaotic mainly because of all the checks you have to go through. The airport is overstretched and staff are not very friendly. The queue management is very poorly controlled, which causes all the long queues, people complaint about. * Is it easier to navigate than terminal 1? Terminal 2 is slightly better than terminal 1 when it comes to signposting and navigating around. * how long does it take to get the bags, and be out after landing? Picking up the luggage is another issue and you expect it to be chaotic again. * And are there any information or help desks located inside the terminal 2 ,to seek help? There are information desks and airport staff in the terminal but most people complaint that they unhelpful and rude. * What is the timeline like to get to the gate after check in? Checking in and boarding is chaotic because of the security measures and boarding controls, they have in place. The check in queue is slow and then you are forced to wait before you can board. Once you are through the gates, there are shops but the passenger seating area is very small. * Are the gates nicely laid out? Are there many gates? People complaint also of the amount of gates and how poorly labeled they are. * any help with information once you have checked in? There are information shout-outs while you are waiting for your flight. * and how easy it is to get around many levels. Does anybody know usually what level does BRITISH AIRWAYS fly out of ? On your way back to the UK, you have to go to Terminal 1 by S-bahn and then take a bus to Terminal 2 or use the Sky Line people mover from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2. There is no direct trains to Terminal 2. All this information which I found online does suggest to avoid the airport if you can. Most people complaint of the tight security measures, poor queue management and airport staff manners. I hope you have a pleasant experience VacationBuddy

| thank you supermoderator. I think i may have not phrased my questions correctly. -i am landing at terminal 2 with British Airways, do i still need to go to terminal 1 to get out? - on return journey I will be dropped of by car at terminal 2 carpark, so once i have checked in at British AIRWAYS CHECK IN AT DESKS 912 ?, i will go through the security, and then look for gate number and head straight for the gate in terminal 2 zone E. -Do i still need to go TERMINAL 1 to board the plane from the gates in area E, in terminal 2? why? I am confused here, -I will not be using the trains as i will be dropped off and picked up from terminal 2, why do i need to take a sky train in between terminals? -i gater from the map on farport website that if i check in for my BA flight in ZONE E, I believe i would depart from either gates with E numbers or may be D, numbers. so i would like to know how far are the gates once you check in from main BA check in counter on arrival, then clearing security? Thanks |
