| Hi there, Traveling by bus within Germany is relatively inexpensive and probably one of the best ways to tour Germany. Buses typically run to and from all the major towns and cities and traffic congestion is not a problem in Germany. Transportation in Germany as a whole is reliable and safe. Paris is only four hours away from Germany and train is by far the most convenient option to get to Paris. Having said this, Paris is one of those cities where you need a minimum of 3 or 4 days if you really want to take in the sites of the city. If you are planning a day trip to Paris, try if you can to spend the night in Paris to get the most out of it. If you are driving make sure you get an international drivers license as France requires one. Hope this helps Vacationbuddy

| Hi again, I would suggest booking train tickets through Deutsche Bahn (DB) online website as they offer better fare rates. You can book through them in advance and you can even without a knowledge of German. The site has a decent English language interface, though in some instances you will find additional functionality on the German language website. Hope this helps Vacationbuddy

| Hi there, Berlin's integrated public transport system (BVG) is the best way to get about within Berlin. The system has an interconnected three-zone system (ABC) which only requires one ticket, allowing you to hop from bus to underground (U-Bahn) to surface rail (S-Bahn) and tram with one ticket. Trams are fast and convenient and small ferries will get you across Berlin's lakes. Hope this helps Vacationbuddy

| Hi, An AB zone ticket is the best deal, as you can buy extension tickets for the outlying areas. Prices for one way tickets are as follows: Zones AB €2.10 Zones BC €2.50 Zones ABC €2.80 Prices for single tickets are as follows: Zones AB €6.10 Zones ABC €6.50 Then, you have the WelcomeCard which is sold at tourist offices and prices are: Zones AB €16.50 Zones ABC €18 This is what you need to do to get to Auschwitz: Take a sleeper train from Berlin to Krakow (around $200 there and back). Then take the one hour commuter train ride from Krakow to Auschwitz which costs around $10. Hope this helps Vacationbuddy

| Taxi cabs can be found around any airport or public location. If you are relatively pleased with the service provided by the cab driver a one or two EUR tip would be sufficient. The weekend taxi fees are generally more expensive than the fees on a weekday. The European rail system is set up to be a very cost effective and efficient means for international European travel. Street cars make frequent stops and have a map layout of each stop. Check the route and be sure the stop you want is close enough to your destination. |
