Germany

Germany has rich culture tradition and beautiful landscapes. The famous Oktoberfest can be experienced starting in September through October. For those traveling in the Christmas season, be sure to stop by Kris Kringle Mart. Only hours away from Munich are resorts in Germany and ski areas are best found at the Bavarian Alps.

One of the superb places to stay in the Black Forest is the Hotel Oberkirch in Freiburg. I just returned from Freiburg which has charm, atmosphere and location as well as an outstanding restaurant. I will always remember the excellent customer service which I received from this hotel. The Rote Baren is a fine hotel in Freiburg - go there for dinner - but stay at the Oberkirch.

My friend and I just got back from a two week stay in Europe. Our German destinations were Koblenz (great for Rhine River cruises) and Baden-Baden. We enjoyed BB but our hotel (Holiday Inn Express) staff didn't know a lot about getting around in the Black Forest. We ended up taking a bus on the Panoramic Road to Fruedenstadt which was spectacular. We only went through Frieburg on the train so I have no info to provide for that location. We did stop at a beautful hotel right in the forest next to Lake Mummelsee that I would like to stay at when we go back.

I like Baden-Baden more!
Anyway - I wanted to tell you that there is now enough snow for skiing in some Black Forest resorts.
