Germany

Germany has rich culture tradition and beautiful landscapes. The famous Oktoberfest can be experienced starting in September through October. For those traveling in the Christmas season, be sure to stop by Kris Kringle Mart. Only hours away from Munich are resorts in Germany and ski areas are best found at the Bavarian Alps.

Default Planning trip.. need some help

Hello everyone!
I am planning a trip to Germany from Sept 24, 2007 to October 8, 2007. This trip will be for me, my husband and his parents. My husband and I have been to Germany together once before and fell in love with the country! We always wanted to go to Oktoberfest.. so for our 10 year anniversary we are! LOL
So far I have us in Munich for 4 nights (planned for in laws to do a day tour of the castles... ) then off to Rothenburg for 2 nights then on to Heidelberg for the remander of time.

My question is.... where would you recomend staying in Heidelberg that will not cast an arm and a leg and be with kinda close to the train station.. as we would like to take some day trips on our own while staying in Heidelberg. (also - does anyone have any recommendations for a few must sees in the area?? day trips, etc.)

Thank you for all of your help! My father in law wants me to give him the price of everything in the next month.. why? who knows... so now I am in a flurry trying to get things settled!

Sounds like a great trip. Heidelberg is beautiful. I've only been there once but I remember it fondly. I'm not sure what you mean by "arm and a leg" (it's different for everyone!) but I would recommend either the Elite Hotel Heidelberg (website) or the Hotel Anlage (website). The Elite Hotel is a little cheaper but both are fairly affordable and have received mostly favorable reviews.

I'd love to help but I've never been to Germnay, let alone Heidelberg. I'd like to though. After your trip, come back and let me/us know any tips we'd want to have in case we ever make a similar journey.

No problem!
I fell in love with Munich when we were there in 2003. So I am sure I will have LOTS to tell when we get back... now - back to my research and planning! lol

Hi, there are plenty of places to visit in Heidelberg and you can find budget rental car Germany for going around. Palatinate Museum, Old Bridge, Television Tower, Holy Ghost Church, Bonzai Museum, University Botanical Garden and walking tours and boat trips to keep you engaged. The beauty of Heidelberg exhibits number of sight seeing spots. Enjoy your trip!
