which are the primary ports in Greece handling the bulk of ferries in Greece traveling between the mainland and the other islands? also, what kind of amenities do larger ferries normally offer?

The primary Greek ports handling the bulk of ferries in Greece are Athens, Thessaloniki and Alexandroupolis. Ferries to Greece are like sailing hotels, so they have sleeping cabins, nice open decks, duty-free shops, bars and restaurants.

The larger ferries can also transport both people, cars and even RV’s. In fact, some Greece ferries have what they call 'camping on board', which means you can sleep in your camper and use the power hookups, as well as showers and bathrooms on the ship.

As well as the others above you have Patra, Volos and Igoumenitsa. Although the last one has many routes to Southern and Northern Italy too.
