| One of the main attractions for people visiting Greece is the many beaches along its coasts. The long white sandy beaches cover 13,676 km of coastline and decorate the stunning clear turquoise waters. There are so many beaches to choose from large busy beaches filled with all the amenities anyone could need to small more secluded beaches surrounded by huge cliffs and palm tree forests. The beaches are at their very best in September, especially the first 2 weeks, when water is warm, crowds are down and full services are still in operation. They are also ok in May - mid Oct. At this point though the weather may be extremely hot the water stays chilly till around June. Also beware crowds, as these seem to be the most popular of the summer months for tourists to visit. Benefits to be found when visiting these beaches are that good food, clear water and friendly English-speaking locals are almost guarenteed. There are so many islands and beaches in Greech that it would be hard to list each one and it's benefits, this is why island hoping is so popular here with tourists looking to experience as much of the natural beauty they can. For a more indepth look, the Greece Beaches section of the website is partiularly helpful. Here you can find a map of the islands for anyone who is looking to plan Island Hoping, Information on hotels, transportaion, and also a guide to the type of beaches you will find on each of the islands. The flight comparison tool is also worth looking at as it will compare fight prices from several airlines and advise you of the cheapest fights available to this picturesque location. |

| Moderator Jr Member | I thought I'd update this thread since Lynnie mentioned that the beaches are at their best in early September. I know the weather is amazing in Michigan, my home town, I can only imagine how lovely it is in Greece right now. What are your favorite beaches there?
