best way to explore Tikal

what do you guys think is the best way to explore the Tikal National Park? If I wanted to explore independently, what are the transport options to get there?

Lastly, would you mind sharing your favourite attraction in Tikal?

Hi there,

I have to say that an organized Tikal tour is one of the best ways to get the most out of the experience in tikal mainly because you get a local and knowledgeable guide.

however, if you do decide to go on your own, you can travel to Tikal without an organized tour group. You can either:

- get a flight to Flores Airport from La Aurora International Airport in Guatemala City. Once you land there, you can get a taxi or mini-bus to nearby Tikal National Park.

- if you're on a budget you have the transportation option of taking a tour bus to Tikal rather than catching a flight, if you don't mind the longer travel time and some bumps in the road.

My favorite attraction there has to be the great Tikal step pyramids which support the great Tikal Mayan temples that rest atop them.
