Smile Re: Flores Guatemala vacation

Guatemala is a unique country full of colours, emotions, and adventures that provides an endless pleasure within predominating Mystical Mayan Culture; you will experience an amazing and unforgettable experience.
Guatemala is exceptionally beautiful and the people are very friendly there. You can visit Tikal that according to the more current orthography is the largest of the ancient ruined cities of the Maya civilization. It is located in the El Petén department of Guatemala.
Now part of Guatemala's Tikal National Park, it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a popular tourist spot. The closest large towns are Flores and Santa Elena, about 30 kilometers away.
Tikal and El Mirador are among the greatest pre-Columbian cities built anywhere in the Americas, and visiting one or both is among the more memorable Guatemala things to do.
Tours can be found throughout the country, and in cities such as Antigua, Flores and Panajachel, you will find a variety of agencies offering exciting trips. Eco-tourism is on the rise, not only in Guatemala, and Guatemala’s lush jungles, mountainous terrain and steamy lowlands provide plenty of options for an adventurous tour. Guatemala tours can often be the best way to get around to all the hottest spots and they are generally well-priced.
You can shop at the Chichicastenango market, located about 140 km and 2-3 hours drive northwest of Guatemala City, is home to what is surely the most colorful native market in North and Central America, perhaps in all the Americas. Market days are Sundays and Thursdays, and draw not only the K'iche' Maya of the surrounding region, but vendors from all over Guatemala, representing many of Guatemala's linguistic groups such as Mam, Ixil, Kaqchikel and others, each hawking his or her products in a riotous cacophony of color, dialects and costumes, smoke, and smells.
Also a very popular option, it is quite physically challenging but definitely worth the climb once you reach the top of Guatemala's most popular volcano. The tourist bus drops you off at the village outside of the entrance to the park, where you buy your entrance ticket (25 quetzales I believe) and some snacks/water/beer if need be. From there it's approximately a 2 hour hike, or so the tour guide says. The climb down is infinitely easier, more or less like skiing on lava rock, fun!
The Pacaya volcano is one of the most, if not the most climbed volcanoes in Guatemala.
You`ll have as well the Lake Atitlan, located three hours by car to the west of Guatemala City. It is reputed by its visitors and by its residents to be the most beautiful lake in the world.
And if you want to you to fall in love with a place that you will find extreme difficulty in leaving visit Monterrico, it is a black-sand beach on Guatemala's Pacific coast. Considered by many to be Guatemala's best beach but, having said that, let it be known that Guatemala has not put much energy into developing beach-related tourism. If you're looking for luxurious, expansive beaches and fancy resorts with room service, you may wish to go down to El Salvador for the weekend. But If that`s not what you looking for, you will love the spirit of Monterrico.
In Monterrico, you'll meet backpackers from around the world. You can lie in a hammock, eat a veggie burger and drink a huge, inexpensive piña colada. You can play in the waves (a little too big for some people's taste). Walking down the street, you'll see the real local flavor, not a shiny facade put on for the tourists. You can visit the animal sanctuary and release a baby turtle into the wild.
You get to Monterrico by driving to La Avellana and taking a boat through mangrove swamps for half an hour. It's a gorgeous ride. I truly, truly recommend the Monterrico experiece. And all this is not too far from splendid Flores, where you will find plenty to see and do.

Hope my answer has been helfpul!
