| Whale Watching on Maui - The best place to see whale watching on Maui in their natural breeding area. Each year from December through May the humpback whales make their home in the warm waters surrounding Maui. Humpback whales migrate close to 3,500 miles from their Alaska summer time feeding waters, to the warm waters of Hawaii where they mate and have their calves. There are Three locations in the southern latitudes of the North Pacific One group will travel to Baja Mexico The second will migrate to a group of islands SE of Japan The largest population 60% will find themselves in the Hawaiian Islands traveling a distance of 3500 miles from their feeding grounds in Alaska waters. The whale migration takes the humpback approximately 4-8 weeks to complete. The majority of the humpbacks that travel to the Hawaiian Island end up in the waters off Maui. |
