| Have been to Kauai (my favorite place) and Maui, but would like to go to Oahu. I golf but my husband is less mobile so am looking for a spot that could accomodate both and be near major attractions without being in a huge high-rise. Would love suggestions as to when it would be more economical to go and still have good weather. With husband's more sedentary nature would like a spot that offers a view. Thanks in advance. | hi red, I'm not sure what kind of view you were looking for your husband but I would recommend looking into either the Makaha Resort & Golf Club on Oahu. It's got your classic course that requires a variety of shots and use of almost all your clubs. The resort itself is located near the Waianae Mountains overlooking the Pacific Ocean. On the property you'll find the 18-hole championship course, pro-shop, pool, the works. If that's a bit too far away, then try the Ko'olau Golf Course. It's about a 20-minute drive from downtown Honolulu on the Pali highway. It's got great view of mountains, fairways, all surrounded by the rainforest and the ocean. So if you decide on this course, then there's always the attraction of Pali Lookout nearby and you're still within driving distance of downtown and many other areas. Well the weather in Hawai'i is, for the most part, consistent. During the months of May to October it'll vary from day to day but on average I'd say around 85 degrees F. From November to April it'll lower to about an average of 78 degrees. Depending on where you're from, those temperatures aren't bad!I Generally, April-November is considered to be the low-sesason but definitely do your research on flights. You may be able to catch a deal somewhere! Last edited by everyann; 08-28-2006 at 11:41 AM. |

| Thanks for the quick reply. Research shows that the golf resort sounds beautiful but would be a little too far away and remote. Any additional suggestions would be gratfully appreciated as were your comments on the weather. Sounds great from Boston. Closer to attractions might be better for us, though. Just don't want to end up anywhere that looks too much like "honkey-tonk". Those pictures of rows of high rises scared me! Kauai spoiled us, I think! | Well there's always the Turtle Bay Golf Resort in North Shore. The area is not "honkey-tonk" and it doesn't have many highrises like Waikiki. Most tourist choose the North Shore to get away from the Waikiki area. I think this may be more of what you're looking for. The popular Hawaii Kai is always an option, though, I'm not sure if they accept single player reservations. Last edited by everyann; 08-28-2006 at 11:42 AM. |
