Depending where you are traveling form, will greatly impact the flight rates. It seems to always be cheaper from California than Seattle. The time you are traveling will affect the rates too..
I just typed Cheap Hawaii airfare in the search box and I got a lot of options. Have booked our last two trips through a travel agency in Honolulu as it turns out. they had the best fare and it included trip cancellation insurance.

Hotels are subjective as to what you want to do and how important looking at the ocean is to you. We tend to spend the evenings in our room so being able to look at the sunset and the ocean is prime important to us. We pay a lot to get to this incredible place so we want to be able to look at that beautiful ocean.

The Entertainment Book has guaranteed beat rates in one section and half price hotels in another section. We booked a small oceanfront room in a hotel with no pool - directly across the street rom Kuhio Beach Park for $105.00 a night.

Activities will depend on what you want to do, but be sure to include a trip to the Arizona Memorial. It will be worth your time. However don't take a tour there. Get yourself there early in the morning, I believe they open at 7am. It is run by the Parks Department and they givce out free tour tickets but once the tours are full, you won't get one..

I have 3 very favorite website that will give you much valuable information and you can actually get these publications for free at the airport and on the streets when you get there. Just click on the island of your choice and check them out. These books have coupons, maps, etc.
