A Hawaii Luau is a traditional Hawiian party that can be thrown to celebrate anything from a babys first birthday to a wedding anniversary. Sometimes there doesnt even have to be a reason, they just like to party. A Luau is usually held under a tent with palm fronds woven to make windbreak walls. Also used in decoration are ti leaves, heleconia, silk flowers and red ginger. Not forgetting the traditional lei's

Hawaiian music is a must for your luau and the entertainment at the party is usually the music of guitars and ukuleles.

Dressing for the occasion would be grass skirts for the women, and shorts for the men. Again everyone should be wearing their Lei and the host would usually hand these too guests as they arrive. Paper parasols and slices of pineapple on the edge of drinks will put your guests in a tropical mood. For more information you could check out the Hawaii Luau page where you will find details of the menu's used and the different kinds of Luau celebrated.

As far as I know, Hawaii Luau is not either a celebration or a dish, it means 'a feast' that is a gathering of families or friends to enjoy good food and time. Hawaii Luau can be held for special ocassions such as birthdays, anniversaries or weddings. This Luau can be done at any time, anywhere to have a get together. Hawaii Luau is ideal if anybody plan a party with many people meeting for the first time. Most people like to go to atleast one Luau whenever they visit to Hawaii.
You can even arrange a Hawaii Luau by yourself through one of the Hawaiian Luau party suppliers, they will arrange luau decorations, free invitations, traditional tableware and whatever you need for your party.
Fun, good food and excitement are all part of a Hawaii luau.

There are many caterers on all the islands that can provide beach side luau food but few who also provide the entertainment associated with a luau. I have many resources on Maui I could supply for this sort of thing and even a concierge who could arrange for entertainment as well.

If you want just music and perhaps a few dancers, it might be affordable and can be arranged through many of the concierge services. If you want to see the pig roasted, have a full dance, music, entertainment and food experience, it might be best to book a private section at a hotel or other public luau in your area.

Aloha trasfg - I'm afraid South Maui is my area of expertise. We have a wonderful concierge we use to book this type of event and they may have contacts on Kauai - Their contact information and more can be found on my website. I am not allowed to post a link. The name of the company is Concierge Connection but the website is maui concierge.

I know that Sandi Loakimi and her team will find a way to help you - that is what they do.

I don't know about arranging a private Luau but my wife and I attended a Luau when we were on Maui for our Honeymoon. The Hyatt hotel near Whaler's village and Kaanapali beach puts on a Luau and kind of a historical presentation, I think they do it every night. You don't have to be staying there to attend, you can just buy a ticket.
