We'll be in Lanai city for our vacation and I was wondering if you could give me some input and Lanai City travel suggestions?

Here are some Lanai City travel suggestions:

- Seeing the local sights

- Watching a live show at the Lanai Playhouse

- Golfing at the nine-hole Cavendish Golf course

- Visiting the Mike Carroll Gallery

- Relaxing on Hulopoe Beach

- Shopping at one of the nearby shops or boutiques.

It all depends on what you like to do and where you are going to stay. There are two main Four Seasons Resorts on the island one at the beach (manele bay) and one outside of Lanai City in the "woods" , Koele. Both have top rated golf courses.

In town, there is Hotel Lanai, which has a few rooms. That's it for "hotels". Some local residents rent houses or rooms in town.

If you like the beach, Holopue beach is a great place to snorkel and swim, if you are lucky and they spinner doplphins come in, you can swim with them if they approach you. (usually they do).

Don't plan on doing any "shopping " in Lanai City. We have two knick nack type stores, and two tshirt/clothing stores, two art galleries AND THAT is it. Two very small grocery stores as well.

If you want to get out of Lanai City and see the remote areas, either rent a Jeep ($$) from either Dollar Rental Car or there is a private company that rents Jeeps and ATV's. Head out to Polihua beach, which is beautiful and most likely you will be the only one on the beach. (no facilities here and it's dangerous to swim here as well).

Also if you want "Rebackas' Limosine has a 4wheel drive surburban type car that will take you to the remote places and they are very friendly and resaonable.

Lots of hiking on the island , all over, and you can camp at Holopue Beach, but not on the beach itself unless you are a Lanai Resident.

Pele's Other GArden in town is a deli restraunt for lunch and an Itallian Bistro at night. Excellent food and beverages there .

that should get one started on what to do in Lanai. It is very, very laid back, we have NO stop signs, only 10 miles of paved roads. A great place for R+R
