Hawaii Hawaii is made up of many islands and is frequented by many around the world. The popular Waikiki area has everything from hotels, Waikiki Beach, and shopping. Conveniently, inter-island flights are quick and easy. Visit Maui and make a stop at the Haleakala Crater, providing incredible hiking trails or head over to the Big Island and experience the Big Island Helicopter Tour.

Hi, I am new to this forum but I am hoping someone here can help me with some information. I have 5 children ages, 17,15,12,11,8 and we are going to stay on Ohau for 4 days then take NCL for 7 days around the islands. This vacation is already at 15,000$$ so I am trying not to take the excursions on the ship and I am trying to find things for everyone to do. Here are the places we are going...Hilo for the day/Maui (Kahului) for 2 days/Kona all day/and Kauai for 2 days. I already know we will do Pearl Harbor but I would like to do a luau on Ohau and then maybe one in Maui. From some of my research I hear Kona is great for the black beaches, but can we get there from the ship by walking or do we need to rent a car. I will take any advice you guys can give me. Thanks! Angie

Hi angie, How do your kids feel about aquariums? As a child, I loved going to Sea Life Park...They offer a "Sea Life Luau". It's great for families. You never mentioned when you'd be on Oahu, so you can check this link to see if there'll be one going on when you're there. If that doesn't suit you, then there's always the popular Paradise Cove Luau. They've got a few different packages and I believe one of them may have transportation included. You can check them out HERE. As for Maui, I hear the Old Lahaina Luau is the most authentic one. I have yet to experience it but have heard great things. Check out their site HERE. They've got explanations for the events that night. Hope you enjoy your trip around Hawai'i! Sounds like it'll be fun.

Great! There's still more time to plan. You know Destination360 also has a great list of Luau's on Oahu, Maui, and The Big Island. You'll find that link HERE. There's also a Virtual Tour of a Luau and some of the other things to do in Hawaii. Good luck planning!

On the Big Island I'd recommend Hapuna Beach it has great big sandy beach. For Black Sand Beaches you'll need to head south of Kona. I'd recommend you rent a car if you have the time. If the volcanos are active when you go I'm sure the kids would love to see an active volcano. Its about a two hour drive south of Kona in the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. If you have any more questions just ask. Happy Travels, Dan
