| Moderator Jr Member | There's a new hotel chain out there. The Summerfield Suites and Hotel Sierras are being transformed into the Hyatt House, the newest brand in the Hyatt family. The renovations are ongoing, with the change-over expected to take place in early 2012.

| it looks like Hyatt is expanding further in the US, though I am not sure the Hyatt Summerfield Suites will become a preferred brand among extended stay guests. also I hear that Hyatt's extended-stay hotels are owned by franchisees forced to pay the cost of upgrading their establishments, which just goes to show Hyatt's practices... |

| Moderator Jr Member | That's no good...It is not easy to be an innkeeper and a franchisee...it would make sense that Hyatt is not paying for the upgrades. I know a friend who works at a car dealership and GM sent them a letter one day that said, you are making upgrades now. And there was no offer to pay for the work.

| this is the thing about franchises (specially hotel franchises)...that's why If you're thinking about buying a franchise, there are many things to consider before signing on the dotted line. Becoming a franchisee is not a guarantee of success, but rather a blueprint that can assist you in achieving success. Given the correct market conditions, skills and dedication, being a franchisee might be financially rewarding. |

| It is a trade off...but I bet you get a lot more people who are willing to stay if they know the brand. Plus, you can get a listing on the corporate website and more visibility on Expedia, etc. I'm much more likely to stay at a place with a brand name. |

| a hotel good brand (like other brands) are built on the confidence of consumers that they will not be disappointed. I think Hyatt is a good example of a developing successful brand...buying off competition and transforming them into Hyatt newest brand it's proof of that! |
