Default State of Illinois

I'll be going Illinois and was looking for some affordable places to stay not far from central Springfield. I'll be a week in the state of Illinois and would like suggestions on things to do, preferably in Springfield?
Thanks
Dasiel

Hi Dasiel,

Springfield is full of historical sites, monuments and modern architecture such as the Dana-Thomas house, which was designed by the renowned architect, Frank Lloyd Wright.

The top attraction in Springfield is a famous building located at sixth and Adam Street where Lincoln and his partner Stephen Logan practiced law.

Another attraction is the Vachel Lindsay House, which was built in the late 1840s and was originally owned by C.M. Smith. His wife Ann was the sister of Mary Todd Lincoln. Both Abraham and Mary Todd Lincoln were regular visitors.

In respect of accommodation, I would recommend the Inn Bed & Breakfast, conveniently located at 835 South Second Street, right in the heart of the Springfield Historic District.

The Inn is only three blocks from the State Capitol complex-within easy walking distance of the State House, State Museum, State Library, and other government facilities. All of the rooms have luxurious private baths with hand milled French soaps, and antique furnishings.

Hope this helps
