| Hi Folks! I just thought I'd 'peep' about one of my favorite places to visit...India! If you ever happen to make it to New Delhi, there are a couple of places you will definitely want to go, places you may not see, that is, unless you are lucky enough to know a local, and things you may not see unless you have your eyes peeled. Dilli Haat is one of my favorite places to browse. It's a lovely handicraft market, where a good handful of locals bring their goods for your pleasure to see and purchase, including hand made clothing, leather goods, like shoes (my favorite), hand made jewelry, and other unique hand crafted items. My first experience here was on my honeymoon. My husband was racking his brain to think of a wonderful place that I would love, and this was what he came up with for starters. We strolled through all of the wonderful stalls and looked at just everything, and then we sat down in the outdoor dining area (something of a local standard, but a wonderful experience just the same) for a delicious omelette and a unique soft drink they called fruit beer. Later, he thought of some more romantic places, like the Taj Mahal :) More later! Thanks for reading!

| New Delhi is nice, though I love Calcutta and Mumbay also. India is definitely once of those places that you have to experience once! Here it's some facts I learnt about India: 1. India is bordered by the world's highest mountain chain - The Himalayas. 2. India is the seventh largest country in the world. 3. India is the second most populous country after China. 4. New Delhi is one of the most densely populated city in the world with 13 million people live in it. |

| The name 'India' is derived from the River Indus, the valleys around which were the home of the early settlers. The Aryan worshippers referred to the river Indus as the Sindhu. The Persian invaders converted it into Hindu. The name 'Hindustan' combines Sindhu and Hindu and thus refers to the land of the Hindus. |

| i have a few other facts I've learnt throughout my travels: 1.It is illegal for foreigners to import or export Indian currency 2.India has the largest postal network in the world (i think more than 100k post offices) 3.The British ruled in India from 1858 to 1947 and when they were forced to leave they divided or encouraged to divide India into two countries (India and Pakistan). |
