What is the best place to shop in Goa? Any particular item Goa is famous for? What would be a good souvenir?

The shops in Panjim or any other town are good places to get clothes made to fit, and they can manage this in a day or so. Good markets(night) include anjuna on a wednesday but ask any one and they will tell you when and where these are.

Goa also has Portuguese roots, which makes it different than other locations in India. Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church, built in 1541, stands at the center of town. You can go for the upmarket boutiques for good quality handicrafts, antiques and embroidery items or else the flea markets offers delightful shopping at cheap prices.
