Backpacking in India

We've never done backpacking in India before but we like the idea of backpacking India. What can we expect from backpacking in India and what is it like? thanks for input!

Backpacking in India gives you the chance to experience a side of India that many people will never see. You'll be riding in crowded cars of trains, sleeping in hostels, and eating Indian food from street vendors and I tell you, it'll be all a rewarding experience of traveling India this way.

India backpacking means living without any luxuries so no air-conditioning and some hostels may be more run-down, but they are still a great way to meet fellow travelers and plan excursions together.

When backpacking take the normal precautions, specially when eating cheap food from street vendors and drinking untreated water.
