hi there,

There are three major Indiana ski resorts to choose from:

- If you're planning to ski in Indiana with your family, Pines Peak Family Ski Area in Valparaiso is an excellent choice for all ages.

Pines Peak ski resort enjoys an annual snowfall of thirty-six inches, a summit elevation of 860 feet and a 150-foot vertical drop. From beginners to experienced skiers, there are trails for every level.

- Perfect North Slopes has eleven lifts and enjoys a summit elevation of 800 feet and a 400-foot vertical drop. Averaging almost twenty inches of annual snowfall, it's great for skiers and snow boarders alike.

- Paoli Peaks Ski Area has the biggest slopes of them all. It has a mountain elevation reaching more than 900 feet and a 300 foot vertical drop. It has eight ski lifts.

Valparaiso is located in northern Indiana and the lake effect snow belt, so it's sure to have a lot of snow come December. I have a feeling it's going to be a snowy winter. I've already seen the wooly caterpillars on my porch and they tend to foretell snowy winters in the snow belt. (Yeah, I know that sounds weird, but it's true). Paoli is located in Southern Indiana, so they rely on more snowmaking, but it's still fun.

Wink Indiana ski resorts

both Paoli Peaks and Perfect North Slopes are good choices though Paoli makes thier own snow, so you won't be on true powder like out west. Saying this, they do have a midnight madness nights on friday and saturday, which are a blast.

Good to know! I just ran across this and thought about this forum:

Paoli Peaks is hosting an open house, Nov. 6, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Should be fun!

Default skiing in Indiana

I visited paoli peaks in January this year and it was ok. it's not the biggest ski resort by any stretch of imagination, but it is a very nice place to snowboard, ski and tube. Paoli Peaks' hills are also great for families, even our granddad and nephews had a blast since there are plenty of slopes to choose from.

For me the Pines Peak Family Ski Area located at 674 North Meridien Rd in Valparaiso, IN, 1 hour from Chicagi, IL, 2 hour 40 minutes from Indianapolis, IN, and 1 hour from South Bend, IN is the best to enjoy skiing.
