|  Visiting the Amana Colonies in Iowa I'd like to visit the Amana Colonies in Iowa with my family and I was wondering if anyone has any experience of being there? is there a best time to visit and what is there to see? |

|  Re: Visiting the Amana Colonies in Iowa The Amana Colonies are west of Iowa City, just off Interstate 80, and consist of the villages: Amana, Middle Amana, East Amana, West Amana, South Amana and High Amana. However, Amana Village is the main one since the visitor’s center is located there. There is not a bad time to visit, though I 'd say to come here during one of the main events of the year (either winterfest or Oktoberfest). Amana is really like taking a step back in time and you and your family will love it down there. You'll be able to see crafts demonstrations and rent bikes to explore the colonies. I also suggest coming here during the weekend and book a hotel room at one of the many B&Bs. |
