| Is there any way to travel to Ireland from UK without a passport? My passport was in my maiden name but has expired. I can't get a new passport in my married name using the one day service as from the website it looks like they don't do that for name change services. There's a family funeral likely to be next week and I just can't see how I can get there |

| As far as I know, since 9/11 the airlines won't let you check in without a passport. Having said this, you technically won't need one with certain airlines. A friend of mine travels to and from Ireland all the time without a passport, though apparently some airlines can refuse you if you haven't got a passport. To be safe, why don't you just get a new passport in your maiden name using the one day service. You can always send off to have it changed over later (not very moneysaving but will get you to the funeral). |
