Hi I have a wedding in Dublin in September and am toying with the idea of taking my car across on the ferry. At 1st glance it seems really expensive to take the ferry. Does anybody know if there are cheap ways of doing this? Thanks

You're right, it is expensive to ferry to Ireland...I'd just go ahead and fly if I were you. I don't know of any specific cheap ways to ferry. Plus the last time I was needing to find stuff, flights from England to Ireland could be found pretty cheap. The ferry route isn't spectacularly interesting anyway, it's not like you'd be missing out on lots of sights. Sure it'd be a bit of a change of pace from the whole process of flying, but I don't think it'd be worth it. The only thing that might change my mind would be the length of your stay and if you were going to rent a car in Ireland (after flying). The cost of that might be enough to close the gap.

Thanks Trecker - I think that is going to be the deciding factor, if I can get the time off it would be nice to spend a week in Ireland as I have never been. Any tips on nice places in and around Dublin and also any cheap car hire places people know of? Thanks in advance
