HI, my 3 college-age kids and I will be visiting Ireland from March 14-22, flying into Dublin. The boys want to golf 1-2 times but will need to rent clubs and prefer less expensive courses, any recommendations? My daughter and I want to visit a linen mill/factory, any recommendations? Since we only have 8 days, what are a few things we should not miss? We are backpackers and use train/bus for transportation. Thanks!!

Hi there, With more than 360 golf courses throughout the country, Ireland is a golfer’s paradise. I would recommend Balla golf club in Mayo County as they have special rates for families. Adults prices start at euro15 per round and Students (Under 18) start at euro10 per round. I recommend the Foxford Woollen Mills visitor centre, also in Mayo County. It offers one hour selfguiding multi media presentation in French, German, Italian and Spanish as well as English and Irish. You mention you are backpackers so if you wish to have the choice between train and buses, the Emerald Card offers unlimited travel on all of the country’s trains and buses. If you want to stick to buses, the Irish Rambler pass allows access to any of Ireland’s buses, though if you want flex dates, you have to get the Open Road pass, which allows the same travel, though in non-consecutive days. A few things you should not miss are Irish castles, Dublin Zoo and the Guinness brewery Hope this helps! Regards VacationBuddy

Why don't you have a look at the Ireland and Dublin sections of the main Destination360 website for some information about the city as well as recommenations about places to visit such as museums and the zoo. Dublin's also great for shopping and you have to of course try the traditional Irish Stew! In terms of other places to visit while you're there I would recommend seeing the many historic buildings including churches and cathedrals but other than that when you get there you will find there are many city tours you can take which will guide you around the best sites to see and things to do. It's a great city and on my various trips there with my friends I have done all of the above and had a great time. I know your kids won't be able to do this but if you get a chance visit the Guiness factory and sample some Guiness. It's actually really good for you! Happy Holidays!
