| I'd say that staying in a Sorrento hotel is best for an overnight stay as exploring the Pompeii ruins can take up to 5 hours give or take. From Sorrento to Pompei is about 30 minutes by Circumvesuviana Commuter Rail, whereas Positano would be an additional 50 minutes from Sorrento by SITA bus. Then add connection time in Sorrento and you're looking at a couple of hours. To get the most of the trip and best experience, I'd also suggest hiring a licenced guide for a small group rather than a big one..trust me! |
