what's your experience of restaurants in Italy? do they charge more for eating inside of the restaurant or outside? can someone explain the restaurant customs over there? thanks

My experience with Italian and European restaurants for that matter, it's that they generally charge a cover. also, if you have a drink or meal standing inside at the bar it will be roughly 1/2 price the cost of you sitting inside or outside at a table of the restaurant.

As well as cover charge, Italian restaurants charge for water and bread even if you don't eat it, so don't assume it's complimentary.

With regards to water, they come in 1/2 and 1 litre bottled water, sparkling or still so be sure to tell them what you want.

I will have to try all four of the ones in Naples. I have a slightly different take on pizza here, and am amazed anyone can narrow it down to just five. Some of my favorites are here.
