is it true that mt etna is the most active volcano in the world? is it possible to hike to mt etna?

This is true. The volcano actually has erupted around 200 times, and the last eruption was in 2001, with lava flows reaching within mere miles of the nearby town of Nicolosi.

One of the scary Mt Etna facts is that there is still the threat of an imminent eruption, but despite the daily threat, there are tours available to the heart of Mt Etna. For what I've been told the hike to the top is well worth it, since you get a chance to smell and touch old lave sediments.

Hey there. As for interesting facts about Mt Etna, it is interesting to note that it is Europe's tallest and largest volcano, at least as far as active examples are concerned. Hiking up is possible. Getting a guide is the way to go, and you can either start near the bottom or combine hiking with riding on a bus, etc. in order to get to the top.
