We will be arriving in Rome and going to Priano. I know we can take the train to Salerno, but how far is it from there to Priano? I've heard a taxi may cost 200Euros each way! We're thinking instead of driving from Rome to Priano, how long of a drive is that? Any help anyone can give us would be greatly appreciated.

The main thing you have to remember about the Amalfi coast that the roads are very windy, narrow and on some sections dangerous. In fact, it can get so narrow in places that if you came across a bus coming in the opposite direction and you won't get past! I've heard of people basically abandoning their hire car as they weren't able to continue their drive along the Amalfi Coast, so I'd take the taxi if I was you. Also, parking is a commodity on the Amalfi Coast so parking is very limited. By the way, you can also take the Circumvesuviana train from Naples to Sorrento and then the bus to Praiano. We've done that a couple of times but to us it's a lot of hassle.

Hi, I would get the train to Naples then get the ferry (which runs in the summer from Naples to Positano). Its a great way to see the coast and when you get to Positano there is a very regular bus which runs to Priano. or there is the taxi. Abut 20 mins or so. Unfortunately in this part of Italy with taxi's you are encouraged to set a price before you get in. There a good deal of scamming on prices etc. We were hit once while there. We stayed in Priano three years ago. We had private transfers organised. A car from Naples airport to Naples ferry to the Island of Ischia for a week, then ferry over to Positano and taxi to Priano. However, after staying there, realised the bus/train option was very easy. The taxi/car drive back from Priano to Naples for the flight home was about an hour or a bit longer. Although windy, the roads were ok. We had heard horror stories about long queues on the roads, but they never materialised in August for us.
