Does anyone have advice about how to geet from Rome to Sicily? I am having some trouble finding a low cost air fare. I am open to traveling by other means of transportation, such as boat. I will have just landed from a trans Atlantic flight and will be tired, but want to go to Sicily leaving from the Rome airport. Any suggestions apprciated and any other advice about tracveling in Sicily in general would also be welcome. Lucia

Have you tried Alitalia? I'm more than sure they have lots of flights going into Sicily, though I don't know what you consider "low cost." Sadly, the only thing I know about Sicily is what Ma told me on episodes of The Golden Girls. Good luck with the trip!

Thanks Joe. I consider low cost to be $100. Alitalia definitely does not have any low cost flights from Rome. I did find windjet and airone though. Easy jet goes from Milan, not Rome. I am also interested in the hydrofoil from Naples to Sicily and any suggestions of places to stay. Lucia

Hey there all. I thought I might throw some advice in about how to get from Rome to Sicily. Allitalia offers more than ten daily flights between Rome and Palermo. That being said, taking a train is what many travelers do, as it is very convenient. From Rome, it takes around twelve hours to get to Palermo, give or take an hour depending on the speed of the train. Travelers are encouraged to consider getting a rail pass of some kind when looking to rely on trains for getting around Italy/Europe in general.
