Hi there,

The train will be the quickest (under 2 hrs), cheapest and most convenient way to travel from Florence to Bologna by far. If you take the train in Italy, you have to stamp your ticket in one of those yellow machines before boarding the train, otherwise you risk a fine.

If you take an early train on Friday or Saturday you have to get an additional reservation for a specific train. This reservation is free but if you get caught without one, they will fine you.
Also, always ask whether you get into the right train and check on the announcement boards on each platform.

By car Florence to Bologna is conveniently located on the A1, the major highway that runs North-South through Italy.

Find more info on different ways to travel within Italy from the main site “destination360.com/europe/italy/”

Hope this helps
