Visiting Padre Pio Shrine in San Giovanni, Rotondo

Hi.

Will be visiting Padre Pio Shrine in San Giovanni, Rotondo - coming from Rome.

Kindly advise how do we get there and pls suggest which hotel close to the Shrine is the best place to stay. Thank you.

hi there,

You can get to Padre Pio Shrine by train or bus.

- If you choose the train option, you catch a train from Rome to Foggia then a connecting bus from Foggia to San Giovanni Rotondo that takes around 40 minutes.

The Eurostar train takes only 3 hours to Foggia or the IC trains which is the cheaper option but it will take 5 hours.

- If you choose to get a bus, there is an express bus service which runs from Rome Tiburtina to San Giovanni Rotondo taking 5 to 6 hours.

A couple of hotel suggestions are the:

- La Solaria which is a 3-star hotel very near the shrine with a restaurant and private parking area.

- And the Bed and Breakfast Santa Lucia which is very cheap and it is located within walking distance of the sanctuary.
