|  Rome Taxis Scam If you are traveling to Rome soon, be aware of a taxi fare scam. By law, Rome cabs can only charge 40 EUR (roughly $57) for the fare between the airport and the city center. However, taxis based outside Rome are taking advantage of a loophole in this law, and they are charging 60EUR (around $80) for the same trip. To beat this scam, when leaving the airport, look for a Rome city cab (look for ‘SPQR’ on the door). Vacationbuddy
