| Hi there, Definitely not. They are not just glorified hot tubs, and they are one of the best places for tourists to interact with the locals. Do bear in mind, that these hot springs are divided into men's and women's sections, and people enjoy them in the nude! Regarding locations, hot springs in Japan can be found from the north to the south. The area around Mount Fuji has great natural hot springs, and the Japan Alps region also has a number of excellent high altitude soaking spots. Some of the best hot springs in Japan, however, are farther off the beat track. Hope this helps Vacationbuddy
