advice on Tokyo subway system

hey ya'll,

we are heading this coming summer to Tokyo and Im searching for info on the Tokyo subway system. Is it best to purchase single tickets or get a pass? if so, which pass would you recommend?

Hi there,

The Tokyo subway pass is great for getting around in central Tokyo and there are many day passes available such as the One-Day Economy Tokyo Subway Pass and the Tokyo Metro Open Ticket, available as a one or two day pass.

Having said this, I would suggest getting the Tokyo Free Kippu pass, as you can use is on both subway and train lines. Also, this pass is valid on streetcars and subways owned by Toei.

Also, be aware of the pushers on the Tokyo subway, who are subway employees in charge of cramming people into the trains so don't be alarmed by them.

I would say that you should get a pass. Most travel around Tokyo will have you transferring from one station to another, so you might want to avoid the hassle of falling in line in the ticket booth.
