| Hi All! Just thought I'd share that it's almost time for the annual Sapporo Snow Festival. Usually held for one week in February, this year Hokkaido's capital, Sapporo, will host it from February 6 through 12, 2007. For those that don't know and/or will be in the should know that it is quite the commercial event with snow and ice sculptures. Stage in three parts of the city (he Odori Site, Susukino Site and Sato Land Site), visitors will be able to view these famous sculptures. Note that those with families will probably enjoy the Sato Land Site as it is geared towards families with ice mazes and slides. If anyone is going I'd love to hear about this years sculptures and if you've got pictures that's even better! |

| Moderator Jr Member | Wow, the festival attractions nearly 2 million people every winter! The 63rd annual festival is coming up next February, beginning on the 6th and continuing through the 12th. It looks like the city is well connected to the public transportation system, with rail, buses, and streetcars, so it won't be a big deal to get around, even during the busy festival time.

| This year's Snow Festival was really good...though it was the first snow festival I have been to in Japan so not sure if it was better than last years. I can tell you folks that it's well worth visiting Japan during the snow festival. You will see really impressive ice sculptures and the atmosphere is great. It is pretty crowded, very touristy and commercial but worth it at the end. Oh, make sure you visit during the day and night, buy some food from the festival stalls, and also make sure you see more than just the main strip as other parts of the city have events that are worth seeing. |
