|  how difficult is it to visit Petra? We are interested in visiting Jordan in August and wonder how difficult it is to visit Petra. We would like to do this independently, combined with a tour of Egypt, perhaps on our own. |

|  Re: how difficult is it to visit Petra? Petra isn't difficult to visit..it's just that is too big to explore it all in one day. You will need at least a few days to explore the area. Also, you need to have a good fitness level because to reach Petra’s famous monastery you must take a long climb up steps Also, tour guides to Petra are licensed by the government and are generally good, though it's a good idea to find out that the guide actually speaks your language. |
