shopping in Kenya

Have you got any tips and advice on shopping in Kenya for the first time. We'll be staying in few places during our trip there, and shopping it's something we're looking forward to...Also, in what denominations does the Kenyan currency comes,..:)

The markets in Kenya offers a great opportunity for buying products made locally such as unique jewelry, hand-carved furniture and art.

Also, plenty of upscale Kenya accommodation establishments have nice gift shops where you can certainly find some attractive wares, but I would encourage you to check out the Kenyan markets.

The Kenyan Shilling is the official Kenyan currency, and it comes in notes of 50, 100, 200, 500, and 1,000. The Kenyan currency coins come in denominations of 5, 10, and 20, and the best place to exchange currency once you get here is at the major banks and exchange houses.

US dollars are accepted at some places, such as national parks and major hotels, but by no means should you depend on them outside of such places.

Shopping is in Kenya shillings.
Shopping - havnt experienced Nairobi shopping. If you're in Mombasa, theres a good supermarket Nakumat on North Coast. For more select shopping , ask your hotel to recommend clothes shopping etc
