Monte Carlo hotel fire

The Monte Carlo Hotel caught fire today at about 11 a.m. The fire spread from the center section of the hotel across the roof before appearing to ease about an hour later. Debris fell to the street below but no injuries were reported.

Update: Reservation agents at the hotel have been told that the property will open no sooner than Feb. 7.
