| Cool Las Vegas hotels So I think I'm going to bite the bullet sometime early next year and make my first trip to Las Vegas. I was wondering what some of you thought about the various hotels and what would be a good start for a first-timer. Of course there are places like the Wynn, Bellagio and Venetian but I figure they're a little out of my budget range. I'm looking for that nice compromise between quality and price. I'm not close-minded about having to be on the strip either, if that means anything.
Any places I should look into further? Any I should avoid even thinking about? Thanks! |

| Re: Cool Las Vegas hotels Hey Ryder,
Based on what you said, I recommend The Sahara. Good combo of quality/bargain, plus it's got some of that "old school Vegas" vibe to it, which might be cool for a first-timer. |

| Re: Cool Las Vegas hotels Sahara is a budget based hotel but does have the kitcsy vegas feel..others along the strip for a good value and closer to things are Excalibur, Luxor and Imperial Palace.
Actually if you dont care about a casino hotel, you can stay next to the Hard Rock at the Atrium Suites for a great price and then walk home from Hard Rock at the end of the night..decent size rooms..great price
VE!

| Re: Cool Las Vegas hotels A lot of wiseguys like to belittle the Imperial Palace, but what can I say, it's in the heart of the Strip and it's a bargain. The hotel I stay at is simply where I set my alarm, so it doesn't make a lot of sense for me to have to get a second mortgage for a comfy pillow.
As VegasEd said, The Sahara is a little further away from things, but you walk out the Imperial Palace and Vegas is all around you. Caesars Palace is right across the street, so if you have a good imagination you can pretend you're staying there for $60 a night! |

| Re: Cool Las Vegas hotels Hi there, welcome to the world of Las Vegas! I'm not sure what sort of budget you're looking at, but prices on hotels can vary widely based on a number of things (day of the week, whether there's a convention, time of the year, etc.) It is really tough to pin down one hotel and give you some real suggestions until you have a few more details about your trip. For example, if you go during the week, you could stay at the MGM Grand for less than $100 a night. If you go during the weekend, you might have to stay at something like the Sahara, or Riviera to get the rate that fits your budget. Whatever you do, make sure to periodically check the promotions that hotels are running, as they change often, and a lot of the times offer really nice deals. Good luck! |

| Re: Cool Las Vegas hotels Luxor is pretty nice. It's at the end of the strip though, which could be bad for a first timer (seeing as how I'm sure you'll want to travel the strip). The first trip I made to Las Vegas I stayed at the Riviera. It was definitely a fun time, for sure, but whenever we had walked as far as Bellagio, we would almost always have feet that were tired enough to pay for a cab ride back. If you want a more central location, Imperial Palace could be a good bet too. |
