Tropicana and Luxor or one or someplace else?

I originally booked 4 nights at the Luxor. In a pyramid room for about $45/night. Then I read MANY reviews and saw the complaints about how big it is, 45 min check-in times, and crowded pools etc and I thought maybe we could stay in another hotel for 2 nights.

I am thinking about the Tropicana mainly for the pool. I hear they are awesome. I know it is dated and mirrors on ceiling etc. That really does not bother me. In fact my crazy dh likes that idea LOL. I have booked 2 nights there for $49 and $35.

I can not spend a fortune on a room that has luxury and the nice pool, but am now wondering what I should do. Maybe I should stay those other 2 nights on the other side of the strip instead of at 2 so close together?

We are going 8-9-8/13. I appreciate any help. WE have never been to Vegas and really want this to be an awesome experience for my hubbys 50th Bday without spending a lot of $ in the process.
