Default Cab ride to the strip from McCarran

Any tips for the cab ride from McCarran to the Bellagio so that I don't get "taken for a ride"? Do I need to specify a certain route? Thanks.

Most people recommend asking the cab driver NOT to take the tunnel...as that often seems to result in a higher fare. (Although the cab drivers say that this sometimes saves time...so I guess it is whatever is most important to you...time or money!)

OK, so this may be true in some cases but only if the cabbie is going:
1. Green Valley or SouthPoint
2. maybe Mandalay/Luxor
3. any other casino on the West side of the strip will only be faster if they take Frank Sinatra!!! but most go up the strip or the highway and hit traffic anyway...

...a good cabbie knows the back roads and could catch a side road and cut over
..ALWAYS ask which why he/she plans to go PRIOR to leaving

...times vary also on time of day, day of week and whether or not there is a big convention/fight/show in town

My opinion is you should NOT need to take the tunnel to go to Bellagio. It is the opposite direction.

Take Tropicana West to Koval, go right or north on Koval, Left of West on Harmon, Right or north on Las Vegas Blvd, Bellagio is on the left....good luck

We were there earlier in the year and stayed at the Bellagio also. The trip from the airport is really so short that I wouldn't be too concerned. Even if they cabbie does go the wrong way and rip you off, it's going to add up to such a minor amount compared to what you'll spend on everything else during your stay ;)
