hi there,

The Warehouse of Terror and the House of Shock are two of the best haunted houses in New Orleans. The latter one puts on scary productions three times a night and if you are interested in the theatrical side of horror, you'll enjoy this one.

Apart from haunted houses, if you truly want to get a fright, I'd suggest taking a cemetery tour or a haunted tour such as the New Orleans Ghost Tour, which is a theatrical tour that explores the hidden places within the French Quarter where there has been ghosts sightings.

For the real deal, there are many haunted houses in New Orleans dating back to the 1800’s. The Hermann-Grima House built in 1831, has its own reputation as a ghostly museum. At the Beauregard-Keyes House, legend has it the house is still inhabited by its former owner Confederate General Beauregard roaming the rooms in his military uniform. For a fright, you might want to check in at the Columns Hotel where ghostly apparitions frequent the garden, ballroom, and balcony. If you really want to see all the haunted places up close and personal, contact Haunted History Tours for in-depth frightening adventures throughout the city.

Default Halloween in New Orleans

Few places seem more natural for Halloween celebrations than New Orleans. The Crescent City is home to plenty of people who dress in clever costumes--chances are very good you'll see a vampire or two. Many tour operators lead haunted tour through the French Quarter and you'll find haunted houses in the Garden District. The Molly's at the Market Halloween parade is another favorite event. Everyone is welcome to join in and have fun connecting with the spooky side of things. The Krewe of Halloween launches a parade the Saturday closest to Halloween.

New Orleans is well known for its haunted history, and certainly, there are plenty of places to get your fright on, and though I've never been one for trying to scare myself silly, I've had a couple of experiences with tours and know of some houses with haunted pasts. Most of the haunted tours, I've heard (I've only been on one haunted tour, and it was mostly historical and not very scary, but interesting and I'd recommend it.), are not scary, per se, but you can learn a lot of interesting little details of houses and establishments that boast the ghost, including the LaLaurie Mansion, owned by Nicolas Cage, with a most disturbing history, in which the owners conducted medically corrupted experiments on slaves that are said to currently haunt the building today. Going to one of the New Orleans graveyards at night is creepy enough, but you can certainly grab a spot on one of the tours of these places, and grab a scare to go with it, too. Whatever New Orleans haunted house experience you choose, don't scare yourself too much, and really enjoy the experience!
