| Does anyone know how easy it is to take a bus from Lafayette Airport to New Orleans? I'm trying to avoid renting a car. But I dont want to get stranded when I arrive late in the evening. Other suggestions? Thanks |

| You can take a greyhound bus or Amtrak, but the thing is that the greyhound bus and the Amtrak do so many stops that it will take so much longer to get there. I mean if you get on a greyhound bus at 10:45 pm it'll take like 7 hours to get to New Orleans, though they have other times at a more decent times that take 3 hours to get to New Orleans. Either way, I'd definitely go the rental car route. If you can rent a car that would be the fastest way, as you could just rent it and then return it at the new orleans airport when you get there. |

| Lafayette to New Orleans is only a two hour drive. Sometimes, you can find shared taxis, but the Lafayette airport, though it's growing and busier now, more than ever, it isn't likely you'll just find one sitting around. Directly from the airport, there are usually only three options: rent a car, grab a taxi, or take the shuttle bus. There's a number you can call on the ifly website, on the Lafayette Regional Airport page; you can get more information about the shuttle bus there. As for the Greyhound bus and Amtrak, I've done it before, and if you're not in a serious hurry to get there, then the time it takes, which can be several hours longer than it does by car, really won't make a difference. I can never sleep on the bus, but if you're lucky, you'll get a couple hours in if you're tired or it's late...the train is a little better for me. Personally, as with many other travelers, after having experienced my options, I'd rather splurge for a rental, and if you make reservations early enough, you can get some really good deals.

| You can take a greyhound bus or amtrak from Lafayette Airport to New Orleans, but the bus will take about 8 hours because of all the stops it has to make. I think if you can rent a car that would be the fastest way to get to N.O, and it would actually work out okay since you could just rent the car in Lafayette airport and then return it at the new orleans airport when you get there. |
