| Mystery, legend, magic, and the intrigue of the netherworld folks all bring about an interesting charm to this part of Louisiana's history, and yes, it is part of the history, even if it isn't 'real' (some people still believe in the power of voodoo); there have been recorded accounts of unexplained occurrences involving this mysterious practice. New Orleans is home to a huge selection of voodoo shops, like Marie Laveau's House of Voodoo in the French Quarter, which offers voodoo items from other parts of the world, including Africa and South America, and the New Orleans Historic Voodoo Museum, which displays the history of voodoo in this area of the world and a shop where visitors can buy souvenirs. Marie Laveau's is also featured on some tours of the city.

| Moderator Jr Member | This sounds really interesting...and perfect for this time of the year. These tours would pair nicely with one of the haunted tours happening in New Orleans.

| I have been to Rev. Zombie's Voodoo Shop and absolutely loved it! I purchased a voodoo love doll just for a bit of fun and I am not kidding you...a few mins later a stranger grabbed me and kissed me! I would recommend stopping in at Rev. Zombie's to anyone whether you're young or old, no matter what your religious background. Just be sure to keep an eye out for the chicken's feet necklaces and be sure not to touch the altars;) |
