Louisiana

Get travel advice from real travelers, read hotel reviews, and get help on getting there and around the state. Louisiana is ready once again for tourists! The things to do are still there, like visiting New Orleans and Bourbon Street (and Mardi Gras) or visiting a Louisiana plantation after a relaxing New Orleans river cruise.

Smile Re: katrina aftermath

More than two years on some devastated New Orleanians were sure the city was gone for good.
Now, however, visitors who stick to tourist areas might not encounter any evidence of Katrina at all.
Only wide swaths of the city remain devastated, New Orleans has made an amazing comeback the culture and nightlife that make it one of America's most vital communities is still as magnificent as ever.
New Orleans has safely and successfully hosted more than one million visitors for ESSENCE Music Festival, Mardi Gras in 2007. The citizens are doing what has to be done, they are fighting together to get back the city of New Orleans and it is undoubtedly all coming back.
Bourbon Street New Orleans and the French Quarter New Orleans are open for business and drawing crowds again, only outlying areas are still struggling to survive.
In short, if you're a New Orleans veteran, you'll find many of your old haunts up and running.
If you're a first-timer who's been kicking yourself for never making the scene before the disaster of Hurricane Katrina a few years ago, you can go now for a pretty good idea of what all the fun was about. It's much closer to normal now.
There is still loads to see and do when visiting New Orleans.
I recommend a good look at this links just so you can see how wonderful New Orleans still is: Things To Do In Louisiana, Mardi Gras New Orleans, New Orleans Jazz Festival, New Orleans French MarketFestival, New Orleans virtual tour, New Orleans Flights, New Orleans Hotels. I hope this helps! If you do go I`m sure you will have a great time.
