|  Re: lafayette louisiana Hi there, Lafayette is referred to as the unofficial capital of Cajun Country as one of the best things to do in Lafayette is eat food such as spicy southern chicken. Lafayette is also popular for hosting big events and festivals such as the Louisiana State Championship Homemade Ice Cream Freeze-Off happening in June. Another great event is the Craw fish Festival which involves craw fish races and the catching of craw fish from the nearby swamps and the ocean. Some popular points of interests are: * The Acadian village which recreates how Louisiana’s original settlers lived on the bayou. * The Lafayette Natural History Museum and planetarium.
