Mexico

Mexico is home to great beaches in Cancun or Cabo San Lucas but it is also home to the Mayan ruins, Chichen Itza. Experience the culture during the Day Of The Dead festival or take one of the many Mexico Tours.

Default Buying a house in Mexico

If anyone has any questions about the process, my husband and I have bought five properties in Mexico and sold one. The circumstances were different on each occasion so we've had lots of experience. If anyone has a question about the proceess, ask away! theree aree no stupid questions...really! especially on this subject! It can be so confusing!!

OK, maybe there are stupid questions.

But then again, maybe not. Of course they speak Spanish in Mexico, but also of course, more and more Mexicans are learning to speak English. In most large cities, you will always be able to find someone to speak English. And certainly in a real estate transaction, you can and should get an agent and a lawyer who can explain things to you in English. Here in Merida, many of the notarios (lawyers) speak English.

What was the other question? Is it safe?

Safe is relative, but Merida is known as the safest city in Mexico. In a city of a million people, there were 26 murders last year. Compare that with Houston, a city of four million has over 300 murders. Which do you think is safer? I know what I think...

Anyway, if you have any further questions, feel free to ask!
