Whales in mid-March?

Travel guides state that whale season runs thru the end of March for Cabo. I'm concerned that a mid-March trip might be too late to see the whales. Anyone have any experience this time of year?

Yes, you're right, end of March is little too late for whale watching trip. Most of the tour operators stop operating whale watching tours in the beginning of April and some of them stop in the end of March since the snorkelling season begins. so it is good to take the trip in mid March. From March 25th onwards, everyone get ready for snorkelling tours.


Last March we did a tour, but it took long to see some of the whales and as far as i know the perfect for time whale watching is mid February.

yes, plan your trip in mid-February, it is good.I've been to Cabo many times and I suggest the best time for Mexico whale watching is in January/February. Otherwise, not worth. Most of cruiselines use Cabo expeditions for whale watching tours but only the zodiac tour will get you up close. Really I saw whales very close, but spaces are really limited for zodiac tour, so book early. Even you can watch the whales from whale watching bar at La Finisterra hotel. Prefer morning you can see more!

We had whales in both bays here in Manzanillo for the months of February-April. It was pretty amazing watching the mother and her calf play in the water. Have a great trip, it's unforgettable!
