renting a ''hut'' in mexico on the beach

Hi
Just wondering where to go to rent a hut or some sort of housing, that has atleast a bathroom? i was told about ''the diamante'' ,beach huts between cancun and playa del carmen? I can't find any info on it. Can i tent on the beach too? And is ther any sort of animal/insect that i should be aware of when travelling in mexico?

Hi there,

Down in Playa del Carmen there is a bunch of little inexpensive beachfront places and one of them is called 'diamante' where you do not make a reservation to stay and offers decent huts on the beach.

Another alternative is Tulum Playa which is less touristy than Playa del Carmen and you can tent or stay in beach huts for as little as $5 a night.
